Praying Mantis : At the end of August, I discovered this praying manits in my garden.  I was fascinated by the fact that it was aware of every movement around it.  As I photographed it, the mantid actually paid attention to things like cars that drove by occasionally.  I enjoyed photographing it!  This picture is a lot of fun because you can actually see the mantid cleaning its foot!  Tiny details...

Praying Mantis 3 : In this shot, the mantid is cleaning one of its rear legs... I was surprised at how clean this insect was - cleaning and preening like a cat would!

Praying Mantis 2 : In this shot, the mantid actually turned and looked right at the camera.  It was amazing to see how carefully this insect watched EVERY movement in its environment!
