The Unbirthday Party

Posted on Jun 30th, 2008 by Susan #1 : Balanced Susan #1
We live in a fairly large condominium complex.  Many of the residents are older people, but younger families are moving into the area.  My daughters have become great friends with two children who also live on our street.  The four of them are basically inseperable.  Three girls and one boy.  Robert is the youngest and the only boy, but when he grows up, look out.  He's gonna be a real heartbreaker.  Robert has beautiful brown eyes, tons of chocolate brown curls, a great personality and a smile that's gonna have the girls breaking his front door down.  My daughters and the girl up the street have been plotting and scheming during the last week or so.  I only caught snippets of the plan over time, and it was only revealed to me THIS morning.  Robert's birthday is going to occur while the girls and I are in Germany.  They feel that they are going to miss out on something, and decided that they would celebrate Robert's Unbirthday... TODAY!  Nice of them to tell me that they were expecting cake and balloons!  LOL!  I made Beth's FAMOUS mud pie, topped with colorful M&M's... oreo cookie base, chocolate chip ice cream, fudge topping...  a dentist's cavity dream, but tasty nonetheless!

The stage was set.  Robert and his mom came over.  SURPRISE!!!  Happy Unbirthday, Robert!  The girls danced and sang a birthday song for him... he looked at them like they had lost their minds.  I wished that I could hear what he was thinking!!!  LOL!  We sang Happy Unbirthday and ate unbirthday cake.  Life is good.  We have a lot to be thankful for.  Good friends, happy times and unbirthday cake.  As I sit here and type this, I am smiling.  My children are thoughtful.  They wanted their friend to know that he is appreciated.  As he left, he turned and smiled at us... "Thank you for the Unbirthday party!" he said.  The twinkle in his eye and the smile on his face said it all.  He got it.  Good friends and good times yield great memories, and that's what we did tonight...

     Celebrate life.  Celebrate an Unbirthday!
Hugs!

Since I am the Chinese sign of the rabbit, I reserve the place of the March Hare when we celebrate our un-birthday together as we move closer to meeting up.  Deal?

You are a great Mum Susan,

your daughters have been able to celebrate express their love and thoughtfulness with all of your support and '' Mum devotion '' what a wonderful thing to do for Robert and he will remember this act of kindness.
Fun and celebration is what its about, children just naturally love to share and feel good about giving to another, parents and care givers are such a big part of these happy times, I mean who would not be happy with a cake like that mmmmm:)

Hugs back…

Heemes,
DEAL!  :-)

Ange,
Thank you.  I try my best to be a good Mom.  There are times when I fall short, but no one is perfect.  The girls never cease to amaze me.  They are thoughtful and creative and oh, so carved from the same rock as me.  The are so much more “aware” at their young ages than I ever was.  They have such potential, and that excites me.  The more they bloom, the more I am amazed by their wisdom and their insight.  The cake was yummy!
:-)

I love this idea as well.  I wrote a blog on May 13, 2008, Celebrating my 16th Happy Un-birthday: Your presence requested.  It was a huge success.  There are many on GAIA who have done just this.  Now, don't get me wrong, celebrating at a particular time is okay, but often we don't celebrate when we “feel” we want to or when we desire to - why?  I'm not that way.  I might give a birthday present on a different day.  The key for me is to live with feeling and to live out feeling.  It becomes simple when we live from out hearts.  That is what these precious girls did for Robert.  Thanks for this wonderful post.  Oh, and if anyone decides to have for themself or give to another a Happy UN-birthday, let me know.  I'm in on that!   ;-D

OH!
Amber, Satya-Seer and Nicole… Happy UN-birthday to all of you!  Have a piece of cake on me!  Thank you for visiting.  Robert is STILL on cloud nine… maybe it has something to do with the fact that he's kind of like the ONLY rooster in the hen house!  LOL!  Wink, wink!

Hugs!
