Let's Go Back In Time...

Let's go back in time... back to the days of Ferris Bueller and his day off!  Wouldn't it be great if we could just skip work and have an adventure?  This scene makes me want to go to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC... just to take in the art and, ahhhh, just breathe.  I know this scene took place in Chicago, but art is great, no matter where you find it.  Enjoy!

:-)  Visiting an art gallery sounds good right about now… In a few weeks I'll be going to the Neuberger Museum of Art with the fifth graders…  I'm looking forward to seeing the works of Stuart Davis, Edward Hopper and Jackson Pollock.  We will also be visiting the Donald M. Kendall Sculpture Garden at PepsiCo.  Great field trips… I only wish the students could realize how lucky they are!

Thanks for the time, Susan, today.

Do you believe that great art, which is certainly represented above, is frequently the result of pain?  Pollock's life definitely contained pain and suffering.  Wondered about your take on that.

Hmmmm… I never stopped to think about it.  I think if art is inside you, it has to get out.  Perhaps if you have a huge amount of pain in your life, for some, it is cathartic to flush the pain out via a particular medium.  If that's the case, then I think Pollock picked the perfect medium and the perfect style.

Always offering food for thought, Heemes!  Thank you for that.

Loved this movie.  I must have seen it a million times, and I wouldn't mind seeing it a million more times.  I love that these kids, when ditching school, spent the day doing real things instead of just smoking pot in someone's basement.  They went to a museum, a ball game, a fancy restaurant – which does beg the question:  exactly how much allowance money was Ferris getting?  Those outings ain't cheap.
