This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for December 08, 2007:
I would like to learn how to become a master gingerbread house decorator today. Karl PATIENTLY assembled the four houses last night (it took hours, not because of incompetence, however, because each section has to dry before the next one is added). Today, four children between the ages of 6 1/2 and 10 1/2 are going to be decorating with candy and white icing... I'm sure that some candy eating will also be going on... Christmas carrols, converstaion, hot chocolate consumption and laughter will also be part of the picture. I can't wait to learn some NEW and EXCITING decorating techniques! :-)

This gives me the Christmas feeling!
Need some help ? I would come over :)
Come and join the fun! We're starting out small this year, but 4 children, frosting, piping bags and candy can equal messy fun or disaster. I'm sure we're going to have a great time. I'll post a blog about it later. :-)
I'm a master gingerbread house eater! My father started me at a very young age. I still carry the first one I ate strategically placed at navel level. Wonderful post, Thanks
Joe, I'm laughing. You know there's gonna be plenty of eating going on. First it starts off as nibbling on the icecicles… then it moves to stealilng a gumdrop. From there, the whole thing just goes WILDLY downhill… breaking off pieces, stealing bites when no one is around. Before you know it, there's nothing left but the base… that's part of the fun! YUMMY!
This sounds like so much fun! I promised my toddler that we will “try” to make one–food decorating is not my strong point, lol! I can't wait to read your follow-up blog…please post pictures. Have a wonderful time today!!
Thanks Jen… we will have fun! Food decorating is not my strongest point either, but when it comes to gingerbread houses, I don't think there is any kind of bad or wrong decorating! LOL! I'll post plenty of pictures. Enjoy your day.
Love aint gonna care what them gingerbread houses look like, save the rules for later and enjoy what is about to happen…….
Save me an awning for me tuck box Susan…
Visions of decorating gingerbread houses are running through my mind. Susan, what fun and what wonderful memories your children will have to tell their children too. I can hear the laughter and smell the frosting!
Did it take you long to get home yesterday or did you miss that messy, slippery commute?(Do a snow dance for Monday…lol…wouldn't that be nice!)
I look forward to hearing about your “making memories” later.
We did this in a kindergarten class once with graham crackers and tons of frosting and candy. What a trip! The kids ate until they were sick and we had one little boy actually GLUE his together and then eat it!
Gingerbread houses are a joy of life not to be missed!
How did it go yesterday, Susan?
Mamakat…we have done the grahm cracker ones in school too. The kids would be so sticky and the room smelled of frosting. Some houses did not even look like a house, they were just loaded with as much candy a child could put on it. Oh the fun we had!
