Tag... I'm It!
~*~Snow * Moon~*~ tagged me first and then Andy tagged me second... to tell you 7 random things about myself and to tag 7 people. I guess I had better get going before I have no one else to tag!! Here are the rules of engagement:
1. Link to the person's blog who tagged you.
2. Post these rules on your blog.
3. List seven random and/or weird facts about yourself.
4. Tag seven random [?] people at the end of your post and include links to their blogs.
5. Let each person know that they have been tagged by posting a comment on their blog.
My 7 random things about me:
1. I am a big fan of insects... weird, I know, but true. I even have a pet tarantula named Rosie. I actually like insects so much that when I was a senior in high school, I studied ants, competed in the science fair on the state level and won an award from the Connecticut Entomological Society... hey, I bet you didn't even know such an organization existed!!
2. I can tie a cherry stem into a knot with my tongue... now that's talent!
3. I have had some interesting pets - I had a pet chicken for 8 years as a child (she was the best) and I had a pet hedgehog a few years ago. I currently have 2 cats, 1 beta fish, 1 hermit crab, 1 tarantula and an aquatic frog that watches me and waits for me to feed him.
4. Black is my favorite color... it's so versitile - matches anything.
5. I must consume chocolate EVERY day or else I may self destruct. I actually gave chocolate up for Lent one year, and I almost didn't make it through the 40 days... let's just say that on Easter, I ate chocolate for breakfast, lunch AND dinner! The darker the better.
6. I love marshmallow Peeps... thank goodness they have branched out into marshmallow cats, christmas trees, hearts, so on and so forth... I even entered a contest once, and won 365 boxes of Peeps! Before you all have a stroke, some of the boxes were the smaller versions - containing a few peeps... not the ones that contain 12 peeps. I've also fit a GROSS number of peeps into my mouth at one time... something crazy like 18 - I used to have a picture, but somehow it got lost over the years... imagine that!
7. When I grow up, I want to be a Metro North train conductor. I ride the train to work, and I often say "One day, that's going to be me!" The train horn sends my heart into palpitations!

PEEPS! mmmm I love them too! Some kids at school gave me pumpkin peeps for Halloween! I think I inhaled them.
I love my chocolate too! MMMMmmmm…milk chocolate for me please!
When I grow up, after you grow up, will you give me a ride on your train????
ABSOLUTELY…. I'll even let you sound the horn… I got to do that one afternoon on the train ride home… I was on cloud nine and all of my friends cheered for me. It was a great feeling!
YEAH!!! TOOT TOOT!
(I'll be your best friend!) :-)
“When I grow up I want to be the Metro North train conductor. I ride the train to work and I often say, 'One day, that's going to be me!' The train horn sends my heart into palpitations!”
The ticket machine was on the blink. It was raining. The Translink InterMet Fast train pulled up and the conductor was leaning out, whistle at the ready. The doors closed, I shot him a pleading look, pointing to the machine. He looked at me and said, “Get on..quick” and stepped aside to let me climb the steps. I was in the conductor's compartment for ten sweet forbidden minutes before I hit Central Station. I was inches away from the brass tipped handle that sounded the horn but as it was directly underneath the master switch I was too afraid to go near it. But as I stood in the compartment gazing at the rail line being swallowed as we made our way into the city, I remember thinking, this is gold. This is pure gold.
And that's what your number seven is.
Shade, My heart races even thinking about it… I can't explain it, but reading your comment - it's so clear in my mind's eye… I KNOW what you're talking about - the rail, the open space… Every morning, as I stand on the train platform, 2 ACELA trains buzz through the station… they sound a warning and then they woosh on through - speeding by - they always get my undivided attention and I tell myself that'll be me some day… that'll be me!
Have to bring you some Belgian chocolate then,he. I'll remember.
Oooah, you have an ACELA and I have a TILT. Susan, you reckon we got some kind of hidden train fetish going on here?
*grins and eats another marshmallow*
Shade… I'm laughing. I DO have a train fetish, and I torture myself EVERY day by riding the train! LOL! :-)
- Hope you saved me a marshmallow too!!
I can tie a cherry stem into a knot with my tongue… now that's talent!
Why am I not surprised?!
Trains.. for the child within.
I have a Christmas train set with a Santa Engine, Elf Coal Car, Skating Rink Car (with a piroutte skater), Elf Carpenter Car, Candy Cane Car, Mrs. Santa Bakery, and a Christmas Tree Caboose…
It is always set up under the Christmas trees.. with Santa's “HO HO HO” and “Merry Christmas” voice exploding over the train whistle.
It is the wonder of every child in my family, from 1 years old to 90.
Dave
oh.. to be politically correct after the Imus incident, HO HO HO is now politically incorrect. Now Santa has to say.. “Lady of the Evening, Lady of the Evening, Lady of the Evening”.
:)
Dave, I guess my secret is out… I don't just have a child within, I am a child - a big, grownup child!! I love the train under the tree idea. I have always had cats, and cats + Christmas trees = disaster! I think the Christmas tree fell two years in a row - both times due to the fact that one or both cats messed with the tree. Now, don't get me wrong… I had suggested securing the tree to the wall, but that didn't go over too well…
Anyhow, there's no sound QUITE like the sound that a fully decorated tree makes as it is toppling over and hitting the carpet. Believe it or not, carpet doesn't muffle the sound AND it doesn't keep things from breaking. That was in the past though. This year my tree is going to be well secured!!
I would love to have a train around my tree… however, considering past events, I don't think it would be wise! :-)
I'm also tagging Jenn , wi , and Elke … some of the people that I tagged before have already had a turn!! Stay Tuned!!
I hear ya Susan,
Playful paws, those of a cat, or of a child..
Can turn a tender home into a destructive wild…
We had a cat who used to knock over our tree. She passed away, and now our cat just sits in tissue covered boxes under the tree.
This is great! I am glad you tagged Jenn…I felt it needed to come from someone other than myself. I'll be checking back to see her blog! {{{HUGS}}}
